Jeux de la Francophonie

C'est avec fierté et honneur que j'ai l'occasion d'annoncer que j'ai été choisie pour représenter le Canada et le Québec aux Jeux de la Francophonie.

Du 7 au 15 septembre prochain, à Nice en France,  nous serons 6 Canadiennes qui aurons pour mission de faire rayonner nos couleurs ainsi que la richesse de notre langue. Nous avons été sélectionnés par la fédération québécoise des sports cyclistes (FQSC).  Malgré que ces jeux aient été créés en 1987 (l'année de ma naissance!), c’est la première fois qu’une course de cyclisme sur route sera présentée.  C'est un honneur de participer à cette première épreuve.

En 2009 que j'ai été sélectionnée par la fédération (FQSC) pour être à ma première course en sol européen. C’est avec les couleurs de l'équipe du Québec j'ai participé au Tour féminin international de l'Ardèche.  Ayant depuis cumulé quatre années d’expérience supplémentaire, je suis impatiente de retourner faire la compétition contre les meilleures francophones au monde avec la Fleur de Lys sur mon maillot.

Je tiens à remercier tous mes commanditaires dont mon équipe NOW and Novartis for MS ainsi que Nuheat Industries, www.nuheat.com, qui me supporte depuis quelques années.  C'est grâce à eux que j’ai l’opportunité d’afficher nos couleurs à l’étranger.

Leaving in The Snowstorm

We got hit with a big dumping of snow in Montréal, Québec in the past two days.  The entire province pretty much got their "fair share", or more than it, just in time for SPRING.  Ladies and gentlemen, this is what the first day of spring looks like this year in Montréal.  (Last year I should mention that on the same date it was almost 25 degrees celsius though.)

This, is part of the reason why it's so great that I love training indoors, especially at the PowerWatts facility in Montréal.  Otherwise...my options are a bit limited.

The other thing that is arriving just in time for such a wintery beginning to a new season, is my return to California for 3 weeks.  I've only been back "home" for one week since NOW and Novartis for MS' first stage race, and team camp.  But I fly out again to Los Angeles this morning.  In two days, I'll be racing the San Dimas Stage Race in San Dimas, CA for the third consecutive year.

What's in my carry-on backpack?  A book, my Travel Roller, a toothbrush and some earplugs.  Oh and my S-WORKS cycling shoes.  Just in case my checked bag doesn't make it.

Watch out balmy weather and clear roads, here I come.  Watch out San Dimas, NOW and NOVARTIS for MS wants to ROCK YOU! :)

Not only does Nuheat help make living my dream as a professional cyclist possible, they also indirectly get me to visit my Mom more often...

My Mom lives a 13hr drive or 1.5 hr flight from me, and I love her to bits but I'm not a big fan of driving or flying when there isn't a bike race at the destination.  Texts, e-mails, and phonecalls usually suffice.  But she has Nuheat systems installed under her floors and it's hard to resist getting my barefeet on those warm tiles.  And if you think the idea of heated floors sounds nice, just wait until you get your feet onto one.  Words can't do the feeling justice.  You'll be hooked.
